Our Activities
OCF is a not-for-profit corporation incorporated under federal law in Canada. It is in the process of applying for charity registration under the Income Tax Act (Canada). It expects to obtain charitable registration in mid-2024.
OFC will operate as a private foundation with the charitable purposes laid out above. The primary purpose of the promotion of the efficiency and effectiveness of other registered charities is a valid charitable purpose that provides benefit to the community according to the Canada Revenue Agency (see Policy Statement CPS-026, May 1, 2008). The second and third purposes outlined above allow OFC to further pursue the first purpose.

OFC will further its charitable purposes in two primary ways:

1. Education. Providing education to non-profit organizations, registered charities, and individuals associated with the charitable about many important topics related to the management of social sector organizations. This will include information about regulatory requirements, funding opportunities, skill-building programs, etc.

2. Funding. Providing registered charities with gifts and non-profits in need with grants that enable them to access professional services that they need. Many social sector organizations are cash-strapped, and professional services, albeit necessary, and be prohibitively expensive. Most grantors or funders do not permit their funds to be used towards administration costs or professional services. OCF will serve a critical need in the charitable sector by providing funds aimed specifically at allowing organizations to obtain the professional advice they need to start-up, grow, and be effective.
